West Metro Garage Fire

On June 30th, 2024 at 11:26 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a detached garage fire in the 9800 block of W. Morrison Rd. in Lakewood. Jeffcom received several 911 callers reported seeing heavy smoke and flames from a garage with explosions. Rescue 10 advised of smoke plume from the station. Rescue 10 arrived to a working garage fire, pulled 1 3/4 fire fire attack and Engine 7 secured the water supply. Engine 8 pulled a 2nd line for fire attack with Medic 10 and Tower 8 started entry on the garage door. District 3 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. Crews worked on exposure to nearby homes with only some minor heat exposure to one home. The fire was put under control and crews started on overhaul. The garage was deemed a total loss after part of the roof collapsed. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
