Thornton 2nd Alarm Attic Fire

At 15:23 on July 15th, 2024 Thornton Fire Department and North Metro Fire Rescue District responded to a structure fire at 3351 E. 120th Ave. at Eastlake Assisted Living. Thornton Communications Center advised multiple callers reporting the roof was possibly hit by lightning and smoke was showing from the roof. Battalion 71 arrived on scene to a medium two-story multi-family with a working attic fire and requested a 2nd alarm and major incident tone. Engine 75 and Medic 75 arrived and assisted to pull a line to floor 2 for fire attack. Truck 74 set-up with the aerial and Medic 63 assisted with the water supply to Engine 75. Truck 62 set-up on the Charlie side and went to the roof and Medic 71 assigned a medical rehab. Firefighters were able to get control of the fire and started an extensive overhaul. The cause of the fire was determined to be from lightning. Eight apartments with 21 people were displaced and being placed in a hotel by management. No injuries were reported.
