2nd Alarm Apartment Fire

At 19:29 on March 19th, 2024 Thornton Fire Department and North Metro Fire Rescue District responded to a structure fire in the 10100 block of Washington St. Engine 71 arrived to a large two-story multi-family with a working fire from the 2nd floor, secured their own water supply and pulled a per-connect for fire attack and primary search with Medic 71. Battalion 71 arrived and assumed command with a major incident tone and a 2nd alarm was requested due to the size of the complex and with fire spread. Engine 72 pulled a 2nd line to the main fire unit. Engine 63 assigned to assist with primary search of the units on floor 2 with Engine 72 and Truck 62 went to the roof. Crews got the fire under control and rescued two animals. Four units are uninhabitable due to the smoke and fire damage. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
