West Metro Structure Fire

On March 27th, 2024 at 11:09 West Metro Fire Rescue and Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a reported structure in the 3900 block of Zephyr Drive in Wheat Ridge. Engine 16 arrived to a working fire in a small one-story single-family home, pulled 1 3/4 to the Alpha side for fire attack with Medic 16. Engine 1 established the water supply to Engine 16 and Engine 17 assisted with fire attack. Truck 54 arrived and assigned to force entry to the garage and Engine as RIT.  District 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. Crews got the fire under control at  11:24 and started overhaul on hot spots. Two cats were inside, crews were able to find them, but they did not survive the thick smoke. The fire caused is most likely electrical. It started in the kitchen and caused extensive damage to the kitchen, dining room, and living room. No injuries were reported and the cause was due to cooking. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
