West Metro Structure Fire

On February 13th, 2026 at 10:17 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the 2600 block of S. Rooney Rd. in Lakewood. Jeffcom 911 received multiple reports of black smoke coming from the house, but no visible flames. Engine 9 arrived on scene with a working structure fire in an abandoned farm house and pulled 1 3/4 line with an offensive strategy. Medic 13 and Tower 2 completed the primary search. With no hydrants in this area, Tender 6 responded and provided the water supply. No injuries reported. The fire started on the first floor, and was human-caused, most likely by people experiencing homelessness. Because of the large amount of debris inside, firefighters spent a good deal of time on overhaul operations after the fire was out. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
