West Metro Small Fire

At approximately 18:11 on August 9th, 2026 West Metro Fire Rescue Engine 8 was dispatched to a possible structure fire at 10555 W. Jewell Ave. in Lakewood. Jeffcom 911 advised that single 911 caller reporting smoke from the balcony with no flames showing. Engine 8 arrived to a multi-family apartment complex with nothing showing and started the investigation. Crews found the source of the smoke which was coming from an exterior area near a balcony and deployed a ladder to access the balcony and began opening up the affected area. After removing exterior siding, firefighters used a Halligan tool to remove charred material and expose the remaining hot spots. The crew then used a water can and their TIC to locate and extinguish the remaining heat and charred wood. The fire was contained to the affected area, and no further extension was found.
