West Metro Station 3 Open House 2026
Station 3 Open House
On October 3rd, 2026 West Metro Fire Rescue held an open house at Station 3, 95 Garrison Street in Lakewood. The community came out to tour parts of the station, meet up with the firefighters, and find out more about the fire department. Station 3 was built in 1991 and is the former site of the Lakewood-Mountair Fire Department Station 3 and rebuilt at the same location in 1991 as the Lakewood Fire Department Station 3. Station 3 runs one engine and 2 medics and is bordered by the following areas: Colfax Avenue to the north, Mississippi Avenue to the south, Wadsworth Boulevard to the east, and Quail Street to the west. The area includes the RTD light rail line, 6th Ave, and the neighborhoods of Glennon Heights, Lakewood Heights, Lakewood Acres, Lakewood Village, Sun Valley Estates, Villa West, Belmar Gardens, West Alameda Heights, and Bonvue. The WMFR open houses also help to show how much the coasts are for the department from the turnout gear and SCBA to radios, helmets, tools, and all the other equipment they rely on every day including training, outfitting a single West Metro firefighter costs nearly $50,000. It’s one of the biggest behind-the-scenes investments they make-before a firefighter ever responds to a single call. Like everything else, the cost of this lifesaving equipment continues to rise. Making sure WMFR firefighters have the tools they need to protect you is becoming more expensive every year. Learn more about West Metro’s critical funding needs: West Metro Critical Funding Needs.
