Westminster Safe Kids Day Westminster Fire Department hosted Safe Kids Day on July 19th, 2014 at the Orchard Town Center in Westminster. Brighton Weed Fire On July 11th, 2014 Brighton Fire Rescue District responded to a reported weed fire along the South Platte River at Hwy. 7. Crews arrived to a wind driven weed fire and started fire attack. The fire burned approximately twenty acres along the river bottom. No structures were damaged and no one was injured. Lacrosse Scrimmage Family and friends came to watch and support local firefighters and service members at Mile High Stadium on July 4th. 2014. The lacrosse scrimmage was held before the Denver Outlaws game. The players battled it out for half an hour with a tie game being called due to lightning with 10 minutes left.
Annual Fishing Derby The annual fourth of July fishing derby and BBQ on July 4th, 2018 at City Park Lake on W. 104th Ave. hosted by Westminster Fire Department. Families and firefighters gathered and fished at the lake, and kids also competed for prizes for biggest fish and the first fish that was caught, and then enjoyed lunch.
