SNOWCAT

The Snowcat availability was identified in 2023 as an operational effectiveness limiting factor for all county emergency response agencies during snow events that involved long-term highway closures. The fire district agreed to assume primary responsibility for the Snowcat from the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office in the winter of 2024 and has four qualified operators assigned to it. In addition to having more operators, the department has four trucks that can safely tow the machine.
