Fire Station 1 shown here at the current location on Denver Ave. Originally built in 1949 and used as a farm implement dealership, and known as the Whitney Building. In 1976, the Fire Department was starting to outgrow their then current station located at 4th St. and Park Ave. and planned to relocate. On February 10th, 1977, after several renters and as a time as an indoor flea market, the Whitney Building was purchased by the Fire Protection District for $175,000 to become the future home to the Fire Department.
