At 14:22 on May 15th, 2025 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 7000 block of S. Andes Circle West. A heavy black smoke plume was visible throughout the area. An off-duty SMFR firefighter, who lived nearby, ran to the residence, helped evacuate the occupants and tended to a third-party in the backyard who was attempting to extinguish the fire with a garden hose. An Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Deputy used the garden hose to wet down the side of the home to keep the fire from spreading to the structure. The fire originated from a hot tub in the backyard which was being serviced by a technician at the time. The technician was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation. No fire extension to the home.
