On February 5th, 2025 at 15:50 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a train incident at Alta Vista Drive and Carr St. involving a train that detached and not derail. Jeffcom advised that 911 caller reporting hearing a loud pop noise and possibly 10 detached cars. Crews arrived to a train blocking Carr St. and confirmed it was not derailed and started the investigation and checked for any injuries. Battalion 52 arrived and assumed command with a de-coupling. The 300 car coal train temporarily blocked three intersections: Pierce St. at 60th Ave. was also blocked and blocking Carr St. at Oberon Rd. and Olde Wadsworth at W. 61st Ave. The train has been reconnected faster than expected and all crossings are clear just before 17:00.
