Aurora Brush Fire

On March 17th, 2025 at approximately 15:15 Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported brush fire at Jewell Wetlands Park, 13005 E. Jewell Ave. Heavy smoke could be scene from around the city. Large flames were widely visible as fire spread through trees and grass. Dead burning trees presented overhead dangers for firefighters. Additionally, shifting winds and gusts caused the fire to turn in several different directions and sparking spot fires during the suppression efforts. The fire was contained to approximately 2 acres. Crew were on scene about two hours battling the fire and cleaning up hot spots. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
