Castle Rock Basement Fire
Around 07:15 on September 9th, 2025 Castle Rock Fire & Rescue Department responded to a structure fire in the 500 block of Nova Place in Castle Rock with Douglas Regional 911 Communications Center advising of a a 911 caller reporting black smoking coming from a structure. First arriving Quint 155 declared a working fire, assumed command, stretched a line for fire attack with Medic 155 and established a water supply. A vent-limited fire in the basement of a two-story accessory structure, which is still under construction was quickly controlled. Chief 152 assumed command, assigning Battalion 151 as the Charlie Division and Safety 151 as the incident safety officer. Medic 155 and Quint 151 completed searches of the structure, Engine 154 was on deck, Medic 154 was incident medical and Engine 153 level one staged at a second water supply at Nova Place and Tremolite Drive. Loss stopped was declared within 10 minutes and most companies returned to service within a half-hour. There are no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
