At 18:17 on November 10th, 2025 Castle Rock Fire & Rescue Department and South Metro Fire Rescue units were dispatched to an Air Alert 3 on Prairie Hawk Drive just north of Wolfensberger Rd. First arriving Engine 154 and Medic 154 found the plane upright with active fuel spill, no fire, and all occupants safely exited. Engine 154 pulled a protection line and Medic 154 started triage. Battalion 151 assumed command and assigned Chief 152 as the rescue group supervisor. All occupants of the plane and car were evaluated by fire medics and determined to be uninjured. South Metro ARFF resources were cancelled, and Hazmat 153 mitigated the fuel spill. Westside Towing transported the plane to their yard with the approval of NTSB, who will complete the crash investigation. Per ADS-B data, the Piper Dakota departed Colorado Springs at 17:27 and flew north over Denver. The aircraft turned around heading back southbound, declared a mayday near Castle Rock and attempted diverting to Centennial Airport. The aircraft was unable to make it and the pilot conducted an emergency landing along southbound Prairie Hawk Drive where it struck a vehicle with the left wing, spun 180º and came to rest in the roadway.
