On March 7th, 2025 approximately at 12:57 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a commercial carrier fire at 7120 S. Jordan Rd. in Centennial. Tower 35 arrived on scene to a fully involved semi-trailer on fire. There were no other vehicles or buildings threatened. Smoke was visible in the area, and Jordan Road was shut down in both directions for an extended period as crews worked to extinguish the fire. Tower 35 applied water to the fire inside the trailer, and Hazmat 38 was added to the incident to assess the trailer’s contents and water for any hazards. Crews developed a plan to safely transport the trailer and remove the materials to ensure full extinguishment. SMFR Hazmat team confirmed that no contaminants entered waterways. With an escort from Arapahoe Sheriff’s Office, the commercial carrier was driven to the Waste Management Arapahoe-Denver Landfill, followed by Engine 22. At the landfill, the trailer’s contents were dumped, spread out, and covered with water and dirt to prevent rekindling. Landfill employees will monitor the smoldering debris over the next few days. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Additional information provided by South metro Fire Rescue
