Lake George Manure Pile Fire

 On March 25th, 2025 Lake George Fire Protection District responded to a spreading fire on County Rd. 403. This was the result of spontaneous combustion of a manure pile that was also being used additionally for composting. Firefighters with a few neighbors, good property mitigation by the homeowner and mutual-aid from Florissant Fire Protection District, Hartsel Fire Protection District and Southern Park County Fire Protection District kept the fire to just under a tenth of an acre.
