West Metro Structure Fire

On February 23rd, 2025 at 16:25 Jeffcom 911 dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue to a structure fire at 25 Cody Court in Lakewood. Engine 7 arrived to a small single-story single-family with a working fire from the Charlie side, pulled a 1 3/4 line in for fire attack and Engine 3 secured the water supply from W. 1st Ave. & Cody Court. Medic 1 pulled a 2nd line to the Charlie side with Engine 7. Engine 1 pulled 1 3/4 to the Alpha side front door, Tower 8 started the primary search and Medic 11 assigned as medical. District 2 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side. The fire was put under control and crews started overhaul. The homeowner had left for a few minutes, coming back to find the house on fire. There were no injuries reported and the fire caused damage to the interior and exterior of the home. WMFR investigator reported that the fire was accidental, caused by improperly discarded smoking materials. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
