West Metro 2nd Alarm Fire

On May 19th, 2025 at 23:45 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at 5830 W. Colfax Ave. in Lakewood. Jeffcom advised that 911 caller reporting smoke was coming from the roof. Engine 1 arrived to working fire from the roof of a multi-family residential and requested a 2nd alarm due to the size of the the building. Engine 1 pulled a 2 1/2 high-rise pack in for fire attack with Medic 1 and Medic 11. Tower 2 arrived and started with aerial operations and Engine 2 and Engine 3 secured the water supplies and to the standpipe. Tower 8 and Engine 16 went to the 3rd and 4th floors for search and evacuations assisted by Lakewood Police Department agents. Medic 16 arrived and assigned with medical and District 1 assumed command. The fire was contained to a large recreation room on the 4th floor that went through the roof raised trex style decking on the 5th floor patio area.
