Defensive Outbuilding Fire
On August 30th, 2025 at 07:42 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire in the 6200 block of Mississippi Ave. in Lakewood. Engine 8 arrived to a small outbuilding type structure with a working fire with flames through the roof and deployed a 250 foot 2 1/2 inch hose line. Engine 7 arrived and secured the water supply to Engine 8 and Tower 8 assigned with forcible entry and the primary search. District 2 arrived and assumed Mississippi command in the offensive strategy. The primary searches were all-clear and crews found a second story loft inside unstable and the fire was changed to a defensive strategy. Several attack lines were in place and crews worked for several hours on extended operations with getting hot spots and the overhaul. WMFR investigator determined that the fire started on the second level loft and the cause was electrical. The structure was being used for storage.
