West Metro Lithium-Ion Battery Fire

On December 7th, 2025 at 18:45 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a possible structure fire at 1221 Yarrow St. at the Yarrow Street Apartments in Lakewood. Engine 1 arrived to a medium size two-story apartment complex with fire on the Alpha side 2nd floor and pulled a 1 3/4 in for fire attack. Engine 1 established their own water supply, Medic 1 started Alpha and Delta exposure, Engine 3 assisting with fire attack, Tower 2 with search of the main fire unit and Medic 11 as medical. District 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. Crews got the fire under control quickly with all occupants evacuated safety and contained to a single room with minimal water damage. All searches were clear and no extension into the other apartment units or the attic space in the fire unit. Two cats were rescued and one family was displaced.
