South Adams Attic Fire

At 10:07 on November 13th, 2025 South Adams County Fire Department, Adams County Fire Rescue and Platte Valley Ambulance Service responded to a structure fire in the 7800 block of Magnolia St. in Derby. Adcom 911 advised that 911 caller reported that visible flames in the back of the house. Tower 24 arrived to small single-story single-family with a working fire from the Charlie side spreading into the attic and started the primary search. Engine 23 pulled a line in for fire attack, Battalion 21 arrived and requested a major incident tone and Rescue 23 went to the roof for vertical ventilation. Crews were quickly able to get water on the fire and completed the vertical ventilation to prevent further spread of the fire. All interior searches were clear and the fire was was reported to have started in the exterior of the back of the home and spread into the attic space and interior kitchen. One resident was assessed for minor injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The homeowner’s dog and puppy were rescued from the basement and were uninjured.
