South Metro Residential Fire
On August 12th, 2025 at 15:42 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 1700 block of E. Phillips Ave. Dispatched advised that multiple callers reporting trees and bushes on fire with smoke from the home and the call was upgraded. Battalion 2 arrived to a working fire from a medium size two-story single-family with smoke from the Alpha-Bravo side in the attic and in command in the offensive strategy. Engine 15 arrived and pulled a 1 3/4 to the Bravo side for fire attack and secured their own water supply. Medic 15 and Engine 17 assigned with the primary search and Medic 12 with medical. Crews were able to prevent the fire from extending into the living area and was put under control at 16:06. No injuries were reported. The home, which was under renovation and unoccupied at the time. Investigators from South Metro’s Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause to be a pile of improperly discarded rags used for staining and painting.
