Buck For The Badge

On September 12th, 2026 the 10th annual “Buck for the Badge” event in correlation with the Gilpin County First Responders Day which was hosted at the Gilpin County Community Center, located at 250 Norton Drive in Black Hawk. The event was organized and hosted by the Gilpin County Organizers. Steve Henry who is the President, started Buck for the Fallen/Buck for the Badge, after a tragic event that involved 3 officers. The event opened with bull and then the bronco riders event. Fire apparatus, law enforcement vehicles, and three medical helicopters were available for tours including Flight For Life, Med Evac and AirLife. Food and drink vendors were at the event, along with other vendors. Timberline Fire Protection District, Gilpin Ambulance Authority, Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office and Central City Fire Department were also on hand at the event. This year’s event featured 50 riders from all around the Rocky Mountain region, who competed for prize money. Buck for the Fallen is a 501(c)(3) organization that raises money to support the families of first responders who have been killed or critically injured in the line of duty. The Buck for the Badge rodeo event is their signature annual benefit rodeo, that uses rough stock rodeo events, to generate donations and awareness for those families.
