South Adams Structure Fire

On July 2nd, 2026 around 18:20 South Adams County Fire Department, Brighton Fire Rescue District and Platte Valley Ambulance Service responded to a structure fire in the 10700 block of Idalia Way in Commerce City. Adcom 911 advised that multiple callers reporting grill on the deck on fire with active fire and a smoke inhalation patient. Battalion 21 advised of smoke in the air and requested a major incident tone with a working fire and add additional ambulance. Engine 26 arrived to a small two-story house with a working fire from the Charlie side extending to the roof and pulled a line for fire attack. Engine 53 established the water supply to Engine 26 and then pulled a 2nd line for fire attack interior of the residence. Truck 28 started the primary search and Battalion 21 assumed command and add a engine and brush truck. Truck 23 went to the roof. Crews found fire rapidly spreading into the attic space. Engine 27 pulled a 3rd line off Engine 26 for fire in the backyard with surrounding vegetation. Due to extreme heat, dry conditions, and gusty winds, the fire spread rapidly along the exterior and interior. One resident was transported to a local hospital, and a second resident was evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family.
