Golden La Veta Pass Ave Grass Fire
Golden Grass Fire
On January 15th, 2026 at 11:45 Golden Fire Department and Pleasant View Fire Department was dispatched to a possible grass fire at 300 La Veta Pass Ave. in the Dakota Ridge RV Park in Golden. Battalion 21 arrived to a small smoldering with no active fire between two mobile homes and the rest of the response was cancelled. The home owner explained that he smelled burning plastic, and went outside to investigate. He found a small patch of grass burning right next to his rented trailer, which had also burned a plastic automobile radiator and a child’s bicycle, then succeeded to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. Crews did not apply water and only provided a visual investigation, until an investigator could arrive and review the scene. Once the investigation was completed, water was applied to the area by Engine 41. The fire department praised the renter for his quick actions, as high wind speeds could have fanned the flames and spread to other homes, that were slightly below his. The cause of the fire was not determined. Additional information provided by the Golden Fire Department
