
Jefferson County Tractor-Trailer Into Soda West Reservoir
West Metro Semi Into Water
On January 15th, 2025 at 13:16 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to an MVA on westbound C-470 at mile marker 5. Upon arriving, crews located a tractor-trailer that come to rest down the embankment of the east side of C-470. The semi had jackknifed and slid down the embankment and the rear tires of the tractor were partially submerged in the water of Soda West Reservoir Number 1 next to Soda Lakes in the Bear Creek Lake Park. Crews used a ladder to assist the driver up the steep embankment, at the waters edge. West Metro Fire Rescue determined that the truck and trailer had been blown off the highway, due to high winds in the area. Bear Creek Lake Park Rangers stated that winds were recorded as high as 51 miles per hour at the visitor center. The driver was evaluated at the scene and released. No other injuries were reported.
