La Junta Working Outbuilding Fire
La Junta Outbuilding Fire
At 014:13 on May 25th, 2026 La Junta Fire Department was toned out to a reported structure fire. Arrival of the Deputy Chief found an outbuilding on fire with lots of debris and junk vehicles and weeds with the heavy winds blowing the fire to the north pushing the fire toward a couple of residents and other property. Crews began a quick attack trying to slow down the fire progression. Due to lack of fire hydrants in the close proximity, mutual-aid was requested for water tenders from Rocky Ford Fire Department, Cheraw Volunteer Fire Department, Bent County Fire Department, and Manzanola Rural Fire Protection District. Crews worked quick and fast to keep the fire contained to the original property. Multiple personnel from all the departments worked great together to bring the fire under control. The cause is under investigation. Additional information provided by La Junta Fire Department
