West Metro Vegetation Fire

On March 29th, 2026 at 18:06 West Metro Fire Rescue Engine 10 was dispatched to a responded to a reported vegetation fire in the 6500 block of W. Mexico Ave. in Lakewood. Jeffcom 911 advised several callers and Engine 10 with smoke in the air the the call was upgraded to a large vegetation fire response. Engine 8 arrived to a working grass fire in the open space and pulled a 2 1/2 line in for fire attack and secure their own water supply. Engine 6 and Tender 6 set-up water supply operations on Pierce St. District 3 arrived and assumed command. Crews were able to get the fire under control quickly before it threatened any structures. The fire burned a about a half-acre of open space near the Lakewood Sanderson Creek. One person was put in custody in connection with the fire by Lakewood Police.
