South Metro Vegetation Fire

On March 21st, 2026 at 15:19 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a vegetation fire near the intersection of RidgeGate Parkway and S. Peoria St. Upon arrival, crews encountered a working vegetation fire, which was moving southward. Due to high temperatures, low humidity, dry conditions and fire behavior, the incident was upgraded to a large fire and additional resources were dispatched. Crews set up a defensive perimeter around a nearby power sub-station, while other crews worked on containing the fire. Air support was dispatched but was ultimately not needed. The burn area was contained to approximately 20 acres and extinguished at 15:51. Northbound traffic on RidgeGate Parkway was reduced to one lane. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation by the SMFR Fire Marshal’s Office. Information was provided by South Metro Fire Rescue
