West Metro & Denver Joint Training

On March 6th, 2026 West Metro Fire Rescue and Denver Fire Department held a joint training at the former Sears building in the Westland Shopping Center, 10785 W. Colfax Ave. in Lakewood. Braving the snow, wind and temperatures down into the low 30’s, crews used this time to improve teamwork between the departments and to equate fire ground terminologies associated with each department. The Sears building which was used in the joint training has been vacant since 2018 and is being revitalized to improve the West Colfax corridor with a major redevelopment project.
