Arvada Multi-Vehicle Accident

On May 23rd, 2026 at 02:40 Arvada Fire Protection District was alerted to a MVA rollover accident on eastbound I-70 between Ward Rd. and Kipling St. in Wheat Ridge. Engine 51 arrived to a five-vehicle MVA involving a semi on its side with heavy damage and started checking for injuries. Engine 52 arrived and started extrication with Truck 54. Battalion 51 arrived and assumed I-70 command. One person did not survive the crash and three other people were transported with serious bodily injuries that are not expected to be life threatening at this time. Hazmat crews were requested to the scene for the fuel spill and clean-up. Eastbound traffic was diverted to Ward Rd. and I-70 was shut down for the investigation before reopening at 14:52.
