Grand Junction Wildland Fire

On March 18th, 2009 the Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched to a reported wildland fire along Hwy. 340 in the Preserve subdivision. Units arrived on scene and found fire along the road drifting towards homes in the subdivision. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Wildland Team and the Upper Colorado River Interagency Response Team were called to assist. Firefighters were on scene about two hours extinguish the fire and mopping up hot spots. No injuries were reported, no structures were damaged and the cause is under investigation.
