Fatal Vehicle vs Tree

Around 03:00 on November 6th, 2011 Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District & West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle into tree at Oak St. at W. 28th Ave. in Wheat Ridge. Crews arrived at Twilight Dr. & Oak St. to a vehicle that was wrapped around a tree with four patients trapped. Crews started an extended extrication, and crews were able to get all four trapped out of the vehicle. Two patients were critically injured, and two died in the crash. Investigators believe the SUV was speeding around 60 mph northbound on Oak St. when the vehicle missed a turn on Twilight Dr. and then crashed into a pole and continued into a tree.
