North Metro Fire Rescue District along with Broomfield Police Department hosted their 10th annual flag retirement ceremony and open house on June 14th, 2014 at Station 61. Members of the community dropped off their old and ready to be retired flags to North Metro fire stations to be properly retired. The proper retirement of a flag includes a traditional folding on each donated flag the flag is then unwrapped and cut and separated by stars and stripes. The separate pieces are then separately burned. After the ceremony the community got to enjoy tours and a meal with firefighters.
