Arvada House Fire

At 13:37 on August 7th, 2015 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a possible structure fire in the 8700 block of W. 67th Ave. Dispatch advised units enroute that three 911 callers reporting flames showing, with no parties trapped. While responding Battalion 51 advised that smoke was showing from W. 66th Ave. & Oberon Rd. Battalion 51 arrived to a two-story residential with heavy fire showing from the back of the house. Engine 56 arrived, and pulled a 2 1/2 to the Charlie side in the offensive strategy, Rescue 54 assigned to split crews into truck & squad with primary search and ventilation, and all searches proved negative. Engine 51 laid in and pulled a 2 1/2 off Engine 56, and advised that power lines were down on the Charlie side of the structure. Flames were visible on the 1st & 2nd floors from the Charlie to the Alpha sides which was controlled with two 2 1/2 lines. Rescue 54 reported heavy fire in the Charlie side attic space and companies went to the 2nd floor to open up. Crews were able to get the fire under control and out around 14:20 with an extensive overhaul needed. Per fire investigator, fire originated on the exterior Charlie side of the home from a gas grill. One patient was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
