Denver Restaurant Fire

On March 30th, 2016 at 16:43 Denver Fire Department was called to a building fire at 24 N. Broadway at the Lena Restaurant. Rescue 1 arrived to smoke showing from the roof and took command. Engine 11 laid dual lines from Irvington Pl. and Engine 23 laid in dual lines from Ellsworth Ave. to the alley.  After the 360 was complete, flames were seen from the roof. Access from the rear was a long stretch and command requested Engine 23 to pull a courtyard lay. Command requested two additional engines and two additional truck companies to the scene. Tower 23 assigned to the roof of the Bravo 1 exposure and Engine 11 advanced an attack line through the Alpha side of the fire occupancy. Rescue 1 went to the roof, and Tower 1 assigned to a primary search. Rescue 1 reported that fire was venting from the hood system, and Engine 23’s line was stretched to the roof where fire was quickly knocked. The primary search was negative and interior companies reported fire in the ceiling, and began opening up. The incident was quickly placed under control and extra companies were released. Extensive overhaul was conducted and investigators were called to the scene.
