May 17th 2017 ~ At approximately 22:45 Clifton Fire Protection District was dispatched for a report of a residential structure fire in the area of E Valley Drive. RP reports flames coming from garage, unknown exact address. Engine 21 responded and requested 2 additional engines code 3 from Grand Junction Fire Department. Chief 21 copied assignment and requested a TAC Channel. Additional callers report explosions inside garage and the fire spreading to the residence. Engine 21 arrived on scene at 532 E Valley Drive to find a single story, wood frame structure with a working fire in the garage, fully involved and initiated attack with a 2 1/2 hand line. Chief 21 arrived and took command from Engine 21. Engine 2 arrived and staged North. Command requested 2’s crew to move up and complete a primary search and assist with fire attack. Primary search was negative and a second 360 was performed to ensure no additional fire around the residence. Engine 4 arrived and staged North, was asked to move on deck and assist. The fire was knocked down and an extensive overhaul was required. Engine 2 and Engine 4 were released back to their first dues shortly after overhaul was started. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
