Second Alarm Townhome Fire

At 15:47 on March 1st, 2017 Denver Fire Department responded to a structure fire 10025 E. Girard Ave. in Hampton Heights. Dispatch advised that multiple callers of an apartment on fire. Engine 22 and Tower 22 arrived to heavy fire involving 2 buildings in a 2-story townhome complex. Crews found fire deep inside the complex with no close vehicle access, and a 2nd alarm was requested. Rescue 1 began search and evacuation operations, and Tower 22 with Tower 23, Truck 16 and Rescue 1 worked topside to complete vertical ventilation for the Engine Companies on the interior. The fire was placed under control with the fire heavily damaging 2 buildings and slightly extending into an additional 2 breezeways. No civilians were injured, but two firefighters were transported for minor injuries to local hospital. Multiple residents were displaced but cared for by American Red Cross. The fire is under investigation. Additional information was provided by Denver Fire Department.
