Arvada Duplex Fire

At 21:33 on January 31st, 2017 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a confirmed structure fire at 8034 W. 78th Way, dispatch advised that a party is trapped at the front door. Engine 55 & Medic 55 arrived to a single-story duplex with heavy smoke and fire showing, and went into rescue mode. Crews rescued the party at the front door, and Engine 55 pulled 1 ¾ line in for fire attack on the Charlie side of the structure. Rescue 54 arrived and spilt crews, Engine 57 established a water supply to Engine 55, Engine 51 pulled a second line from Engine 55. Battalion 51 arrived and assumed command, and moved up the ghost engine and request two additional medics to the scene. Engine 55 had heavy fire in the bedroom with the ceiling falling in, Engine 53 checked for extension from the second unit. Medic 55 transported two patients to a local hospital and the fire was put under control at 22:18. Crews worked an extended overhaul and the fire is under investigation.
