Denver Apartment Fire
At 21:50 on November 18th, 2017 Denver Fire Department were dispatched to a possible structure fire at 3338 N. Clayton St. at the Willow Apartments. Engine 9 arrived on scene and laid in from 33rd Ave. & Clayton, and size-up a one-story row home apartments with active fire and smoke showing from the Alpha side and began fast attack on the fire. Engine 10 established the water supply to Engine 9 from the plug, Tower 15 started primary search and Engine 9 advised of a possible party trapped. Chief 4 arrived and assumed command, assigned Truck 26 to assisted Tower 15 with search. Truck 8 arrived and went to the roof for vent, Ops 2 assigned as Safety, and Tower 9 as RIT. Engine 9 reported that the fire was knocked from a kitchen fire, and started checking for extension to the attic area. Truck 26 rescued a party in a unit and asked for ALS from Denver Paramedics, Rescue 1 arrived and assisted Truck 8 on the roof for vent. Crews found extension into the attic in several units and Command requested an additional Engine and Truck Company to the scene, with Air/Light and Arson. EMS Supervisor (EMS 43) requested a RTD Bus for residents that were outside in the cold temperatures. Command advised Dispatch that crews will be on scene for an extended time as they were chasing hot spots and requested the American Red Cross for nine people and one family pet that were displaced from 12 units. Crews worked an extended overhaul with a fire watch through the night. Crews rescued 3 from the fire with several people that were treated at local hospitals, and the fire is under investigation.
