Lakewood Defensive Fire

At 13:44 on November 11th, 2018 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched by JeffCom to a structure fire in the 1300 block of S. Depew St. in Lakewood. Dispatch reporting that 911 caller reporting flames showing and possible patient inside. Engine 7 arrive on scene with smoke showing with a working fire on the Charlie side of a small single story residential structure, and securing their own water supply in the offensive strategy with life safety. Medic 11 with Engine 8 pulled two 1 3/4 lines off Engine 7 for fire attack, and Tower 8 started primary search. District 2 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side, Engine 1 assigned as RIT on the Alpha side and Medic 11 with Medical. Crews worked heavy fire inside the front door, and SAM 1 advised that fire vented the roof from the attic space. The homeowner was able to get out of the house, and was transported by Medic 11 to a local hospital. Command requested additional medic to the scene, Rescue 10 assisted Engine 7 with fire attack. Bureau 7 reporting a partial roof collapse on the Charlie side, and a withdrawal was requested from Command, and from offensive to defensive ops started. The homeowners dog appeared at the front door about two hours after crews first arrived. No other injuries were reported, and the fire was possibly caused by a wood stove.
