West Metro Garage Fire

On December 11th, 2018 at 23:44 JeffCom dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue to a structure fire in the 1700 block of S. Newland St. at W. Colorado Ave. Lakewood Police on scene reporting active fire. Engine 8 arrived to a working garage fire in a single story family home with active fire from the Alpha-Bravo, pulled a 1 3/4 line in for exterior fire attack in the offensive strategy. Tower 8 secured a water supply, and stretched a 2nd line on the Bravo side for exposure protection. District 2 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha-Delta corner. Engine 3 assigned as RIT, and Medic 3 as Medical. Medic 7 reporting that Lakewood Police advising that a dog may be in the basement, and Engine 7 found the dog inside, and a 2nd dog was found by Medic 7 in the basement, which needed medial attention from Medic 3. At 00:00 Engine 8 reported that full extinguishment in the garage, and crews started overhaul. No reported injuries and the fire is under investigation.
