Littleton Strip Mall Fire
At 06:32 on May 20th, 2018 Littleton Fire Rescue Engine 19 was dispatched to a commercial fire alarm at 8156 S. Wadsworth Blvd. in Jefferson County. Upon arrival Engine 19 sized up a large single story strip mall with nothing showing. While investigating the storefronts the crew detected an odor of smoke and observed water flowing from and end unit. A working fire was transmitted and while companies were responding Engine 19 pulled an attack line and forced entry. The crew encountered heavy black smoke from floor to ceiling and assigned Engine 13 to the Charlie side to pull a back up line. Engine 16 assisted with the water supply and Medic 16 joined Engine 19 for fire control and primary search. SAM 10 assumed incident safety officer duties, Battalion Chief 1 assumed command and Tower 18 positioned on the Charlie side for a roof report. Crews located a fire being confined by active sprinkler flow and extinguished the flames. No extension to the attic or adjacent exposures occurred, all searches proved negative and no injuries were reported. Assisting agencies South Metro Fire Rescue & MetCom.
