At 15:13 on December 13th, 2018 the Loveland Emergency Communications Center (LECC) dispatched Loveland Fire Rescue Authority to a cut gas line in the 2800 block of Echo Lake Drive in Loveland. Initial reports were that is was a 6 inch line, and XCEL Energy was requested while units were en route. Tower 6 arrived on scene, established command, and met with the reporting parties. The gas line was not visible due to depth, Tower 6 set up for fire suppression, and asked Engine 3 to set up for fire protection upon their arrival. Crew 6 checked nearby structures for gas. Battalion 1 arrived on scene and command was transferred to BAT 1 from Tower 6. Winds were favorable, blowing gas towards an open field. Loveland Water and Power was requested due to the proximity of the gas line to underground electric lines. XCEL notified command that it was a 4 inch line and not a 6 inch line and used two excavators to expose the gas line up and downstream from the cut. The damaged portion of pipe was isolated and the leak stopped. Additional information was provided by Loveland Fire Rescue Authority
