Parker House Fire
Just after 1:00 on July 10th, 2018, South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire on Paoli Way in Parker. Residents woke up to smoke in the house and discovered the back deck in flames. First arriving Battalion Chief 41 sized up a small 2 story, single family dwelling with a haze of smoke in the air, declared offensive strategy and assigned Engine and Medic 41 to fire control. Tower 45 split their crew for interior and exterior assignments, Engine 46 assisted with water supply, Safety 35 was assigned as incident safety officer, Medic 46 was assigned as medical, Engine 44 and Engine 42 were placed in staging. A small exterior fire on the Charlie / Delta corner was quickly extinguished but extensive overhaul was needed from ground level to the soffit. Engine 46 advanced a second line inside to the basement and controlled a smoldering area of floor joists. All searches proved negative and damage to the interior was kept a minimum. No injuries occurred and investigators determined that careless disposal of smoking material was the cause.
