West Metro Apartment Fire

At 1:02 on January 31st, 2018 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a confirmed commercial structure fire at Westhills Apartments 383 Van Gordon St, and dispatch advising units that the 911 caller is reporting that the fire unit has been evacuated. Engine 2 arrived to a large 3-story apartment structure, with a working fire from the 3rd floor with smoke from the center stairwell, and pulled a 1 ¾ line and started an offensive attack. Engine 6 arrived and established a water supply to Engine 2. District 2 arrived on scene and assumed command on the Alpha-Delta corner. Crews got the main body of the fire out in the fire unit, with heavy damage to the building. The entire building was displaced and Command requested the Red Cross to assist with around 30 people displaced. Command put the fire under control at 1:55. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was a burner on a stove that was left on.
