Wheat Ridge High Rise Fire

At 20:24 on October 8th, 2018 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported fire in the 6300 block of W. 38th Ave. in Wheat Ridge. JeffCom advised that the call came in as a outside smoke investigation, with a smell of smoke on the 6th floor of the apartment building. Engine 16 arrived to nothing showing from a 12-story high rise, offensive attack and life safety priority. District 1 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side in the offensive strategy. Engine 17 established a water supply, Engine 16 went to the 6th floor where the smoke was reported, and found a light haze in the building. Medic 16 checked the 5th & 7th floor, and Medic 11 arrived as Medical. Engine 1 arrived and was assigned to the lobby, and Tower 2 set-up on the Charlie-Delta corner. Crews reported all floors checked clear to the 12th floor and all units were put back in service by command at 20:55.
