Air Tanker 23 Demonstration

The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) along with Airstrike Firefighters hosted a media day held on June 28th, 2018, featuring Airstrike’s P-3 firefighting airtanker (Air Tanker 23), DFPCs contracted COFire Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT), and one of DFPCs Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) at Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Loveland. The air tankers conducted a demonstration drop using BLAZETAMER380, a water enhancer (Gel) with the P-3 dropping 3000 gallons and the SEAT dropping 800 gallons of retardant. The MMA is outfitted with state-of-the-art infrared (IR) and color sensors (EO) operated by sensor operators from the Division of Fire Prevention and Control Wildland Fire Management Staff. Loveland Fire Rescue Authority (LFRA) ARFF Rescue 41 and Engine 5 were also on standby for the event. Airstrike formerly know as Aero Union has seven P3’s that will be available.
