Arvada Basement Fire

At 15:14 on December 10th, 2019 Arvada Fire Protection District was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the 11900 block of W. 65th Pl. JeffCom reporting that RP reporting flames coming out of the basement window and smoke from the roof. Tower 56 arrived to a single story residential with a working fire, started a 360 and a 1 3/4 attack line to the Alpha side with a possible basement fire. Battalion 52 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. Tower 56 found an exterior fire in the back of the structure with water on the fire, and check for extension. Engine 53 arrived and secured a water supply to Tower 56 and secured the utilities. Engine 58 pulled a line in on the Alpha side and started a primary search in the basement for fire control and search & rescue. Arvada Animal Management Officers were also on scene to help locate the missing pets. Crews got the fire under control at 15:39 and out at 15:50, and crews started an extensive overhaul in the basement. Firefighters located 2 dogs inside the home that were overcome by smoke inhalation, a canine CPR was attempted but sadly they couldn’t be saved. No injuries were reported and the fire cause is under investigation.
